International Volunteer Day-EX SEISMIC
The Mayor of Cáceres, Carmen Heras, presided this afternoon the ceremony of International Volunteer Day, which falls on December 5, organized by the Volunteers Platform Cáceres, in collaboration with the City.
The event, held at the Plenary Hall, has served to recognize the important social tasks that meet the volunteers who selflessly dedicate their free time to support and work for those most in need and to "meet an important role in society, "according to Carmen Heras, who showed the support of the council with these groups.
This event has brought together representatives from 29 associations across the province belonging to the platform and have volunteers among its employees, as FEAFES Cáceres, Red Cross, Caritas, Extremadura Movement for Peace, FSG, DYA, and general groups working with people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion.
Federation Volunteers Cáceres province will assume next year's regional office from which to conduct activities to promote volunteering and social awareness about the work, explained the President, José Félix Miñambres. Also in 2011 will be the European Year of Volunteering as these objectives will be intensified so that the Platform will serve as a tool from which to contribute to improving the quality of life of people they work with volunteers. The meeting ended with the presentation of plaques commemorating the Day of Volunteering.
